This design showcases the Forster Flag, originally utilized by Lt. Samuel Forster in the Massachusetts Manchester Company of the Essex County Militia. The company, known as the "Minutemen," played a critical role in the American Revolutionary War and were renowned for their swift readiness for battle. This flag was vital in distinguishing the Minutemen's colors from the British and became a prominent symbol of national unity and freedom.
Prior to its donation to Spicer Art Conservation in 2014 by descendants of Samuel Forster, this flag was the only remaining privately held flag from the Revolutionary War era.
